Lurking In The Creek
It lurks.
I see it now
eddies in the current reveal the shape
barely protruding
I see the long rectangular jaw.
Now I see rows of sharp shiny teeth descending into the water.
It waits, patient, immobile. Rebuffs the dragging current.
A shopping trolley waiting to snag unwary plastic bags on their journey downstream.
